Sean Dunbar replied to Andrew Trevors's discussion 'Melonhead and Feels Good?'
Andrew: Yes. Construction is underway. For now, its just a few layers of gyprock to bring the place up to code. That should be done by April 5th. Then we can start on the rest of the project. Cheers, Sean

Beer and Chocolate Dinner a success

The beer and chocolate dinner at the Fackelmann Schnitzel Parlour on Friday went pretty well, I think. The food was good, and large. We had a small crowd but just about right for the venue. We paired up a spicy Hungarian goulash and chocolate soup with Man's Best Friend Porter and the chocolate notes in the porter seemed to get along with the chocolate in the soup and sort of evened out the spiciness. Uwe Kuester, the chef, made a Winter Warmer gravy for the port cordon bleu so we paired that…See More

Maybe that explains why I can't stand Corona! Good work on the resolution. I've been keeping up! If I call it a resolution, I'm sure my wife will understand! :)

Sean Dunbar replied to Kyle Zelmer's discussion 'Petition to Amend NB Liquor Laws'
Kyle: We had thought about having home brewing competitions at the brewery, with the winner brewing a batch on our system. We had also thought of doing a home brewing weekend at Kings Landing, in recognition of Simeon Jones, one of NB's brewing…

Sean Dunbar replied to Scott Warren's discussion 'Brewery tour?'
Scotty: We do tours on a sort of ad hoc basis. Basically, when one of us feels up to it. We don't have tour guides and we don't just let you in a room to drink for an hour like Propeller. Our tours and tastings are done by one of us who…

David: I 'm not sure what we can do to help, but if you think of anything, please let me know. Perhaps some time next year we can do a big brew at the brewery for all the club members, or have some kind of a longshot homebrew competition. We…

The Resolution

Great. It's the 13th and I'm still drinking every day. My only slip was to switch to Scotch one night. A couple of the beers I've had over the past week were Green King IPA and Twisted Thistle IPA from the Belhaven brewery in Dunbar, Scotland. Actually, Belhaven is now owned by Greene King. They were both picked up in Amherst, NS in early December. Both are beers I have tried in the past but this time around, the Greene KIng IPA has gone off a bit, while the THistle is just as good as it was a… Continue

The Return of Winter Warmer

It looks like our packaging suppliers have come through for us. We received boxes today and labels are promised for Tuesday. We have beer in the tanks so we can bottle some Winter Warmer as soon as the labels come off the truck. I would say we'll have it out in Fredericton by Wednesday and orders for most of the rest of the province will be filled on Thursday and Friday. We plan to keep the beer on the shelves into March.

Speaking of March, we have the first two batches of Maple… Continue

New Years Resolution

Okay. My big resolution this year was to drink more. So far, so good. Not a day has gone by in 2010 when I haven't had at least one beer, besides that required at work. In December, I brought back a bunch of beer from Halifax so I'm working through that. Tonight's choice is actually a Christmas present from Griff. It's a bottle of Orval, a great Trappist Ale from Belgium. It was brewed in April 2009 and is still in pretty good shape. It's pretty fruity for a Trappist ale but dries nicely on the… Continue

Oh, oh. We're out of Winter Warmer in bottles.

We've done it again. We ran out of labels, boxes and four packs for Winter Warmer. I brought in enough for the amount we sold last year plus 30% but we had just enough to get us to New Year's. I'm scrambling to bring in more stuff from our suppliers but there will be a delay of at least two weeks. Then we'll get it back on the market until the Maple Cream comes out in March. Sorry, sorry, sorry. Cheers, Sean

Never thought about the storage aspect - I know Vinart keeps them all in the fridge in-store. Premier has some in the fridge but most out. With no cold storage not hard to tell these guys were set-up primarily for wine, is it? Thanks for the response.
